Summary:
Everyone is disguised aboard the ship, some more wonderfully than
others. We’re not the only stowaways, however – Jenova and Sephiroth are
aboard too, though Sephiroth seems off. We land at Costa del Sol.
Cargo Ship
-Found “All” Materia! *happy dance*
-One of the other Shinra soldiers here introduces herself as Aeris. Yay! The gang’s all here.
TIFA: “Uniforms, soldiers… they take away all the people you love.”
Tifa loves cosplaying a soldier.
-LOLOL – Red dressed up as a soldier, and is having serious difficulties standing on two legs.
The only Shinra soldier on board with a tail.
-We’re near Costa del Sol.
-Still haven’t seen Barret. I wonder where he is.
-Oh. My. God. It’s Sailor Barret.
He’s raging at the sight of Heidegger and Rufus, laughing despite all his dead friends.
-Stowaway alert! We’ve been found out somehow.
BARRET: “Get off your spikey butt and let’s go, Cloud!” LOL
-Or maybe not. Could the stowaway be Sephiroth?
-Party time. (Excellent! Widloo widloo widloo widloo!) Gonna go with Cloud, Aeris, and Red.
-Also discovered the Materia Exchange menu. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. It makes messing with materia set-ups so much easier than before, when I swapped in a party member, stripped their materia, swapped them back out, and gave it to a new party member.
-The lower deck is strewn with bodies. One of the surviving sailors says it wasn’t human. Fuck. It’s Jenova and Sephiroth, isn’t it?
-Got “Wind Slash,” but none of my current party members can use it.
-A voice: “After a long sleep… the time has come.” Sephiroth.
-But he doesn’t remember Cloud? Wtf is going on?
-That voice again. “The time is now.” Maybe Jenova’s pulling the strings and fucking with Sephiroth’s brain.
-The music turns dreamy.
-Combat. “Jenova.BIRTH.” This tells me that we won’t have seen the last of Jenova.
-She’s a gigantic winged creature – at least, I think those growths on her sides are wings.
[Later edit: When I looked at the screenshot more closely after this session, her right wing looked like a claw. After the fight, Cloud says something about Jenova’s arm, so maybe this was just some overgrown part of Jenova? Not sure.]
She fires lasers, and hits decently hard, but we keep hitting (Aeris with Quake, Cloud and Red with standard attacks), and keep healing, and we win.
Btw, I tried using the Chocobo/Moogle summon to see what it did again, but this time it summoned this happy camper.
-Got the Ifrit material, and then it’s time to dock at Costa del Sol.
---
Costa del Sol
-We get a glorious discussion after disembarking about whether Barret should have kept the sailor suit. Aeris thinks he looked cute
Cloud weighs in.
-The music here makes me want to go on vacation. As one of the sailors says, “Costa del Sol… a harbor paradise where the sun always shines and it’s summer all year round!”
-The Shinra manager here is really lazy apparently.
-We see Rufus and Heidegger disembark. Rufus again chews out Heidegger for letting Cloud and Sephiroth on board and not catching them. “Do something. I’ll be expecting results.” Heidegger’s not in a good place right now.
-Rufus grabs a helicopter and takes off.

Next time: Costa del Sol.
