Wutai
-First thing’s first is to get my materia sorted out, since Yuffie gave it back to me in a random order (lol).
-YES!! I finally figured out the mystery of the cat house.
Had to position Cloud in such a way to walk up the stairs, and it got me an HP Absorb materia.
-The weapon vendor is much friendlier now that I have Yuffie.
-Outside the temple, a guy here mentions that the water god’s scales stand up to the hottest flames. I heard this before, but now I put it in context with the Leviathan’s Scale I got before the submarine. The only question is: when do I use it?
-In the rich man’s house, three dudes seem to be praying at the shrine.

Wutai Pagoda
-The guy who was silent before now welcomes Yuffie. He’ll fight us on the first floor, and a girl named Shake will watch. Is this pagoda some sort of trial/test/thing?
-This is really cool. The silent dude, Gorky, turned into a flying xenomorph to do battle one-on-one with Yuffie.
-Her limit is Greased Lightning (!!!). It seems to do damage to the enemy and slow them, if that’s what the orange glow mean.s
-Shake is the next opponent. She looks like a little girl, but I get the sense that’s only a disguise. She tries to taunt Yuffie (not sure why that taunt had to be calling her a “bimbo”). This is only to provoke her, to show she should be less easy to throw off balance.
-Before they fight, a woman named Chekhov comes from the higher floor to watch. Chekhov, Gorky… is Dostoyevsky the final boss?
-OMG SHAKE IS LIKE A SPIKEY LITTLE RAGE-BOMBING BATTLE PENGUIN
New band name: “Spikey Rage Penguin.”
-Yuffie defeats her. The next floor, Chekhov’s, is watched over by a dude named Staniv. What will Chekhov’s form be?
-She mentions something about being a form of Sacred Magic.
-LOL – Chekhov is one of the turnip monsters.
-This is a weird fight. She uses “Stare Down” on Yuffie to paralyze her for a bit early, but aside from that isn’t attacking. Is this supposed to be like the FFIV paladin ordeal, where I have to not attack?
Greased Lightning used against Chekhov.
-Nm. She eventually did some draining attacks. Yuffie’s victory streak continues.
-Next guy, Staniv, is the “Master of Weaponry.” (A part of me is hoping for him to turn into Gilgamesh, but I sincerely doubt that’ll happen.) There’s a fifth floor ot the pagoda, but nobody’s ever defeated Staniv.
-He’s swinging a ball-and-chain type weapon. Yuffie uses Barrier early, and beats him.
-Ok. The four of them all talk congratulate Yuffie, and tell her that she’s done well. Now she has to face “HIM.” Uh oh.
-NO FUCKING WAY
-NO FUCKING WAY
-Her dad is Godo. The rich dude. He’s just been chilling at the top of this pagoda I guess.
-What the fuck, Godo. I know “Avatar” was awesome, but you understand Fire Lord Ozai style of fathering wasn’t meant to be emulated, right?
-The design on Lord Godo in combat is pretty awesome. He’s a dancing, multi-headed humanoid. Reminds me of Asura in FFIV.
-Ok. You know what? Fuck auto-attacks. Let’s go ham on Godo with Bahamut. Because why not.
-He keeps healing himself. He reminds me of Asura in the multiple faces, so maybe he should remind me of my Asura battle tactics. Yuffie casts Reflect on him. (I really hope it doesn’t reflect Greased Lightning, or this could be a grievous error.)
-Phew. It doesn’t reflect that. “Greased Lightning” looks to be purely physical.
-VICTORY! That was a really tough fight. She got “Clear Tranquil” (new limit?) and “All Creation.” Which sounds like a neat item.
-hahahahah – they’re both winded and laughing and this is awesome.
-He gives Yuffie Leviathan Materia. YES! Staniv protests, saying that custom dictates only the person who sits atop the Pagoda can use the Leviathan materia. Yuffie rips on the custom, saying she hates how they’re cooped up in their tower…
-…just because Godo lost the war. AHA! For some reason, it didn’t click until now that Shinra’s war was with Wutai.
-The radiant Yuffie starts ripping Godo a new one for letting Wutai turn into a “cheesy resort town.” For all her scoffing at custom, she respects her town’s history more than anyone it seems.
She’s kind of wonderful.
-GODO LISTENS TO HER. He bows his head, saying that he feels his use of strength was too similar to Shinra’s. Might for might’s sake.
-He acknowledges that he should use his strength for good, paired with determination. And he acknowledges that Yuffie’s well-known (lol) love of materia is for the same reason – she wants Wutai’s former power, used well.
LORD GODO: “Go! And come back alive.”
YUFFIE: “Duh!”
-HAHAHAHA
-Everyone files out, leaving Yuffie and Godo. Before she leaves, he tells her to try to take their materia if possible after they save the world.
Bless this whole section. So much.

Next time: we continue on in this materia world towards Rocket Town.
