Summary: The team takes refuge with the bar owners then leaves Timber for another Garden.
Bar Owners’ Home - Timber
-One of the workers in the bar heard Rinoa’s in trouble and offers her a place to stay while things get sorted. Glad I saw all that set-up work while exploring Timber that showed the wide support the Forest Owls have in town.
-The group heads to that home with the three kids and the parents who always fight.
-OH! She’s a leader of the “Forest Fox,” either a subset of the Owls or an allied resistance group. Neat!
-Rinoa confirms that Seifer came to Timber to help the Forest Owls after having talked with her, but doesn’t go into detail. Definitely curious how this relationship developed, and what kind of relationship they have/had.
-Some Galbadian soldiers check on the household. Ruh roh, Raggy. The mother goes to take care of it.
The kids in the home are confident in her capabilities.
-Upstairs. Quistis says that Seifer went to Timber because he couldn’t believe only 3 rookies were being sent to fight Galbadia. He wanted to help. That’s… kind of noble?
-The group debates whether Seifer’s alive. Squall thinks he is. And not unreasonably! Seifer attacked the president, the Sorceress works for the president, and the Sorceress has him. But I’ve played other FF games, and I know Seifer is a main character. He’ll last at least halfway, which means either he’ll be a prisoner or a convert. I’m betting convert.
-Rinoa hopes he’s safe. Squall express his standard “I’m so stoic and you should toughen up grrrrr” line of thought.
Right there with you, Rinoa.
-At least he apologizes.
-The mom pops upstairs. The extra Galbadian soldiers are withdrawing. We have a window of escape.
Huh! I assumed the Balamb Garden was its own institution in competition with other Gardens, not that they were all part of the same network. I guess we’re going to see other Gardens.
-The GALBADIA Garden? That seems like it’d be in Sorceress territory, but I guess it’s independent enough.
-Party time. I get temporarily pissed again that I can’t swap Squall out. Bah. Whatever. Going with Zell, Squall, and Quistis. When in doubt, I’ll go with the two lowest-level character so I can maintain some semblance of equality among those party members.
Again, I don’t understand how it’s a good gameplay mechanic for Squall to exponentially out-level everyone else.
-The path to take: train to East Academy and then through the forest. If we walk and hit a fork, take the road on the right.

Timber
-The two security guards we helped earlier say Zone and Watts were looking for us.
-Aw! A random Timberian who saw Quistis on TV gives her a present. It’s a potion.
-Zone finds us at a train station.
He’s in an awesome old man disguise. Tells us the train tickets to East Academy are sold out. But no worries, Selphie! He bought tickets and gives all of them – even his own – to us. Then his stomach hurts again.
I don’t quite understand if that’s just a chronic condition they decided to give him or if it’s meant to be his reaction to certain situations.
-Rinoa says goodbye to Zone, in a way that makes me worry whether Zone is going to be as safe as I assumed he would be.
-Arrived at the train. So we have to get off at East Academy, head to the forest west of the station, and straight on to the Galbadia Garden.

-It may be just me, but openly riding an official train to Galbadia after you attacked the Galbadian tyrant seems like a questionable maneuver.
