FFIV – Part 4: Fucking Magnets, How Do They Work?

Short session today. Got back the Earth Crystal from the cave of the Dark Elf. Part of the joy of this series playthrough is that I get to see parallels between the games, and this Dark Elf definitely reminds me of the Dark Elf in FFI.

The cave itself was a pain in the ass. The magnetic thing turned Cecil into an archer, and one-shot kill mobs in the dungeon like panthers were a bit rough, but not too bad. The Dark Elf was not nearly as bad as I remember in his second form. I remember on the SNES that Dark Breath destroyed me, but was pretty weak here.

Is this a trend?

I really liked Toroia. The whole matriarchal thing was done pretty well and fun.
