Kind of a tangent, but I LOVE watching blind LPs. They’re the main thing I watch. As such, I want to share some of my favorite LPers. Some of whom I aspire to be like, some of whom have a radically different style.
TW: With the exception of Kay Plays (and usually Version2LP), most of these LPers unfortunately pepper in ableist, fatphobic, and sexist language.
In no particular order:
1. Kay Plays: Her Dark Souls LP is legendary. She is quiet, patient, reads everything, and figures out pretty much all the game’s mysterious lore and secrets by virtue of patience, persistence, and stunning skill. Only a few LPs to her name though before she left YouTube.
2. Generation Hollow: Similar to Kay. High patience, reads ALL the things, great at sussing out lore on his blind LPs. Well-edited too.
3. 1ShotPlays: A duo. Their commentary is hilarious, and their editing is hilarious too. I love the little drawings of themselves they often put on screen to show reactions.
Far less skilled than Kay and Hollow, but I actually think this makes the LPs better. They struggle more and it’s more satisfying then when they beat bosses or solve puzzles.
4. Version2LP: A boisterously queer Australian. They’re especially passionate about social justice, such as calling out racist or sexist elements of games.
5. MythyMoo: Instead of long-plays, he goes for highlight montages that function as hilarious Reader’s-Digest versions of games. Great when I’m already familiar with the games.
