FFX – Part 35: Wedding Crashers

Summary: Flying in Cid’s airship. Guado attack. Evrae. Bevelle. Forced wedding between Yuna and Seymour the Corpse Groom. Seymour and the Guado punch their ticket straight to hell.

TW: sexual assault

Airship

-Continuing onto an airship dock. Cid (of course) is here.

-Where’s Yuna?

-He’s confessing all this stuff to Cid, and Cid’s gotta be like “uh who the fuck are you? I don’t know anything about you.” Or maybe Yuna talked to him about her.

-The Al Bhed are really against the summoners sacrificing themselves.

-Cid’s gonna use this airship to look for Yuna.

CID: “Yeehaa! A flight 1,000 years overdue!”

-Poor Wakka, stuck aboard this terrifying piece of machina.

-The airship emerges from the sand and looks pretty awesome, like something out of FFVIII.

-Looks like I was wrong, and Cid is the leader. Brother seems to be his kid or subordinate or something.

-They start singing the hymn from the temples.

-OH SHIT THEY”RE PLANNING TO USE FORBIDDEN MACHINA TO BLOW UP HOME

Why? To stop the Guado from using Home? To kill the Guado left as a final counterattack?

-Pretty sweet cinematic as Home blows up real good.

-Cid is optimistic about the future. They can rebuild.

-Wakka tries to look on the bright side with Rikku. The destruction of Home is just a bright, beautiful fireworks display, right??

-Heh, Cid is using some random gadget that he doesn’t know how it works to find Yuna.

-Something tattooed on the side of Cid’s head.

-Cid’s main goal is to stop Yuna from her pilgrimage. Auron acts as if he accedes to Cid as the captain, but I don’t believe it for a heartbeat.

-Ah, Cid’s her uncle. [Later edit: I was mistaken, and realized my error later this session.]

-Issaaru’s crew is also pretty distraught by his likely death, but… well… if there’s no other way…

-Rin’s aboard. The vendor now. I hope O’aka’s okay.

-omg Tidus speaking Al Bhed

-The poor Al Bhed on board are now basically refugees.

-Dona’s here. She looks exhausted. She’s even considering giving up her pilgrimage.

-Oh boy. I only have two options for my response: “Sure! Sounds good to me.” And “Who cares?” BOTH THOSE SUCK. But the first affirms that it’s her choice and her choice matters at least.

-Tidus runs with this. Very supportive.

I adore Dona’s continued development.
-OH SHIT IT JUST HIT ME – this ship must be the one we brought up with Rikku from the ocean!

-The Psyches are on board.

-Here’s the famous Nimrook. Wish I could sign him as my keeper.

-Ah! So Rikku is Cid’s daughter and Yuna is Cid’s niece. They’re cousins.

-Success! We found Yuna on some super-vision screen thing.

-WAIT YUNA’S BEING FORCED TO GET MARRIED STILL? WTFFFFF. That’s fucked up. Who’s she marrying?? Did they revive Seymour? That sure looked like Seymour.

-Next stop: Bevelle. The heart of Yevon-coutnry.

-omg. Omg omg. Auron says that this is basically fiend!Seymour.

-The ship is being attacked from within now. Guado snuck aboard and we have to fight them.

-LOLOL RIKKU’S CID IMPERSONATION

-Dona would be willing to fight, but can’t really summon aeons inside a moving airship. I believe her.

-…is that a dragon flying outside?

-Evrae. A protector of Bevelle. I smell a boss fight.

-Yup. Here we go.

-Seems like there’s gonna be a tricksy mechanic, something about telling Cid when to move the ship.

-Not sure when to pull back… aha! Maybe before she does her poison breath.

-I’m definitely missing something about this fight. When Evrae gives the signal she’s about to do poison breath, I tried pulling back, but it was too late. Twice in a row. Just not understanding.

-Victory, but far from a clean one. The “pull back” mechanic didn’t click at all.

-We’re going down near Bevelle.

---

Bevelle

-Bevelle looks awesome. Yuna looks awesome too, except for the fact that she was KIDNAPPED WTFFF I HATE YOU ALL.

-Seymour’s looking worse for wear.

-Pyreflies begin to swarm around the wedding.

-Our ship comes crashing down, and they open fire on us.

-lol this is both ridiculous and awesome. We’re surfing down cables from the airship to the ground.

-Seymour looks so dang skeevy.

---

Bevelle – Tower of Light

-The music is awesomely triumphant.

-Fighting through a gauntlet of warrior monks and robots, but we get stopped as we get closer.

-YUNA WHY ARE YOU SO BRAVE AND AWESOME? She’s got her staff. Is she gonna try sending Seymour quickly?

-SHUT UP SEYMOUR STOP TALKING

-Mika… wtf. He threatens Yuna that if she completes the Sending, the party will be shot. What’s your deal, Mika? Why are you so invested in this wedding? And you KNOW he’s a fiend because you knew that the Sending would destroy this incarnation of Seymour. How is a supposedly holy man even remotely okay with this?

-GET YORU GROSS PAWS OFF OF HER PLZ THX

-BACK AWAY NOW RIGHT NOW

-IFUDHSFUIODHSFUILDSHFDUILSFHDS FUCK ALL YALL

-This is really, really hard to watch. He’s kissing her and she’ balling her fists up.

-And he orders us to be shot as soon as the marriage is over.

-HOOOOLY SHIT SHE’S THREATENING TO PULL A CELES IF THEY DON’T LET US GO

[Later edit: I LOVE her Rinoa-esque wings.]

-Is she gonna jump anyway?

-THAT FUCKING SMIRK GOD I HATE YOU SEYMOUR YOU’RE LITERALLY THE WORST

-Ok, she seems to believe she can “fly.” Valefor to save the day maybe?

-There goes Yuna.

-HELLLLLL YES VALEFORORROOROORRRRR

-Rikku tosses a flashbang out, blinding the wedding party.

-We broke free. Kimahri says Yuna will head to the Chamber of the Fayth in the Bevelle temple.

---

Bevelle Temple

-This is… weird. There’s machina in the temple. An elevator that takes us down.

-Wakka is just so disappointed. The machina is the final straw. The hypocritical face of… well , not necessarily of Yevon, but of the Yevonite organizations. (I assume Yevon itself is an omnipotent/omniscient deity, but really don’t know.)

-The Bevelle trials await us. Another primer pushes Tidus to Al Bhed Unydun.

---

Next time: Bevelle trials.
