FF Type-0 – Part 4: Welcome to Class Zero [Unspoiled]

Summary: School is in session. Kurasame. Rem and Machina join the class. Crystals messing with memories.

Five Thoughts

 

-My general understanding of the school’s structure is that cadets and trainees are different from one another and the higher the class number, the crappier they are.

 

-CACTUARS ARE A THING YAY! Tonberries are also a thing booo. Perhaps in some pet battle capacity, from the sound of it.

 

-“Tempus Finis” seems to be the term for the apocalypse. Some prophesied final chapter.

 

-Kurasame seems suitably badass for a leader of Class Zero.

 

-I’ve barely seen what’s going on with memories, but it sounds SUPER fucked up. The students get power, but somewhere along the way an exchange is made that prevents them from remembering the dead first-hand.

If you'll recall, on the Final Day of Lightning Returns, Lumina explains that if a person's soul is destroyed then all memories of that person are erased, and vice versa, if all memories of a person are erased, then that person's soul is destroyed. Lightning and friends were able to prevent this from happening, but as soon as Type-0 starts up, the entire world is already like this. It's one of the things that I really like about the game. a concept that was mentioned in a different Final Fantasy is actually explored in THIS Final Fantasy.

Granted, Type-0 was originally released in 2011, and Lightning Returns was released in 2013. But considering that most of the west didn't have proper access to Type-0 until the HD version released in 2015, I still consider it a nice progression of concept to actuality.
