FFVII Crisis Core – Part 42: Friendly Neighborhood Copy

Summary: Zack heads back to the church, and an Angeal copy monster protects him and Aerith from an angry mech. (What a weird sentence to have to write.) Some missions clearing monsters around Midgar and Modeoheim.

Sector 5 Slums

-Zack running to the church. He stops, feels “a presence” behind him, and keeps going. Genesis ghost?

-Just a mech. Weird.

-He enters the church.

-Uhhhhh

-Aerith is inside. Chilling with a white griffon thing, that looks like an Angeal clone monster.

-When he sees it’s an Angeal copy, he stops. Then the mech from before opens the door and strolls on into the church.

-This is SO. FREAKING. WEIRD.

-The mech (which has a gun) searches around. Then the Angeal copy rushes the mech, bops it, and it soon explodes.

-The Angeal copy collapses. It’s “degrading.”

-It gets up. Flies around a bit. Ok.

So it’s just gonna hang around I guess?

-Again: this whole scene is so dang surreal.

-Aerith wants to make the flower wagon now.

-Got an email from Cissnei, just checking in about how chaotic things have been for Shinra and the Turks with Lazard’s absence. But that’s not the email that really stuck out to me.

-It’s Kunsel’s. He’s the random lower-level SOLDIER dude who emails Zack about whatever. News, updates, and the like.

This email though is super creepy. It’s unusually invasive and probing.

Now, it could be nothing. Just weird translation or language with no meaning behind it. But I’m keeping an eye on Kunsel now.

-Sorry, Aerith. The wagon will have to wait. It’s time to clear some missions.

Mission: Monster Research Project > Monsters in Midgar > Defending the Slums (4/6)

-This continues from a mission from a while back.

-Um. Game. Does this LOOK like the Midgar slums setting to you? Game, you’re drunk. Go home.

-Usually I explore these areas, but I’m so overleveled and the encounter rate in the plains setting is so ridiculously high that I just beeline to the boss.

---

Mission: Monster Research Project > Monsters in Midgar > Highway Closed (5/6)

-Monsters on highways endangering people or something.

-After winning, no new mission. The sixth mission in this campaign is still hidden.

---

Mission: Monster Research Project > Monster Reports > Modeoheim (2/6)

-Sparring with some monsters in Modeoheim.

-Grrr. Stop giving me these plains settings to fight on.

-I again leave most of the zone unexplored because I’ve seen it a million times, there are a billion random encounters, and it’s super boring.

More of a hellscape than it appears.

-Seriously. Please stop with the plains. (I know that I’m only 35% done with missions, and the game can’t hear me and all, but I figure it can’t hurt to ask.)

---

Mission: Genesis’s Forces > Major Offensives > Foes in the Slums (1/6)

-New campaign. Genesis forces left the Shinra Building attack and are up to some kind of shenanigans in the slums.

-Mad Max Reject Genesis Clone is still my favorite Genesis clone.

---

Mission: Genesis’s Forces > Major Offensives > Take Back the Carrier (2/6)

-Genesis copies who were captured and being shipped to Midgar took over the ship. I have to kill the copies and get the ship back.

-WHAT

-YESSSS

-It’s a new setting. FINALLY!! THIS IS AWESOME! (I’m so easy to please.) This mission is on a ship.

-And the ship has two levels. I can go inside, open up doors… it’s a whole new thing.

-There’s even a little restaurant/bar on the ship.

---

Next time: more missions.
