Summary: Sin’s Core. Jecht, Braska’s Final Aeon. Yu Yevon. The end of Final Fantasy X.
Sin – City of Dying Dreams
-Keeping my team with ribbons in the front line. I remember seeing the Great Malboro listed as an enemy inside Sin, and don’t want to get caught off guard.
-Touched a glyph near the entrance: “Nine fiends still seek eternal repose.” Hm. It’s on a wall that has map-space after it. A door.
-I like the atmosphere here. An empty city.
-Killed an Adamantoise and checked the seal again. Now it says eight fiends still seek eternal repose. So is it eight unique types of fiends, or would killing two adamantoises count?
-Encountered a Great Malboro. It went down before it could even attack.
Om nom nom!
-The seal counts duplicates, so just four more fiends of any type. I’m hanging around by the seal.
-Found another Demonolith. Captured it.
-Auron has become such a powerhouse. He just hit for 43k on a regular attack.
-Opened the seal: “The fiends, now freed, release the seal of Yevon.”
-Behind it is another door, another seal. Another 10 monsters.
-There’s something unnerving about the city, about its architecture. It seems inhuman. Like some Spiran version of R’lyeh.
-Just did a normal attack on Anima against a Great Malboro. It did 91k. W. T. F.
-New enemy! Barbatos. Shoots mortar out of its chest.
Spiran Blastoise.
Huge HP, not much damage, and captured it.
-Killed a bunch of fiends and found some treasure chests. Made my way back.
-Opened the door. There’s another door behind it, and I opened that too. All those doors led to a chest with a Lv. 4 Key Sphere.
-Wheee! Found a slide.
-Found the next area, the Tower of the Dead, but wasn’t quite done with the City.
---
Sin – Tower of the Dead/Nucleus
-CRAP GIANT DRILL THINGY
-That’s no drill. Is that the tower itself?
-Wait, where the hell am I now? Somewhere called the Nucleus.
-Goody hunting! Treasures pop up and I have to dodge icicle things shooting up from the ground. When I don’t dodge them, I have to fight an enemy.
-This is dizzying – now I’m thrown into the air after I found 10 treasures.

Sin – Dream’s End
-HOLY SHIT JECHT
-Standing in the middle of a dream arena.
-“You’re late, Auron.”
-He’s looking a bit worse for wear.
Lol – “Hey” “Hi” Such a chill welcome for Tidus.
-This is awkward afffffff.
-Like SO awkward.
TIDUS: “Dad? I hate you.”
JECHT:” I know, I know.”
Ooooof this hurts. Glad it’s not a happy huggy reunion.
-Jecht regrets what’s about to come. Regrets a lot. Tidus is holding back tears.
-He’s summoning some core of light.
-Wait, is he suiciding to damage Sin? Or to wake it up/energize it?
-THE CITY IS LIGHTING UP
-HJKLH
HOLY
FUCKING SHFJKLDHSFJKL
FHDJKSLFHDSJKLFH
-SWHAT THE FUCKKK
-Wait, Anima did over 300k from her limit break? Did I just three-shot this boss’s form?
-BREAKING OUT A SWORD
-The obelisks are doing a thing but I don’t know what thing.
-Another overdrive from Anima does 144k. And one-shots this next form.
-A black orb seems to rise up. Jecht’s form explodes.
-Well. That was anti-climactic. I was waaaay more powerful than I probably should’ve been for that.
-Jecht is dying, and still being kind of a dick.
-Now they’re working together. Sorta.
-Not a fuzzy relationship, but still some warmth there. It’s complicated, and I respect that.
-Crap a thing! Is that black orb Yu Yevon?
-Aeon time.
-Jecht fades. The aeons request to be called.
-The orb merges with a sword.
-Oh shit we’re ON the sword now! That’s the platform.
-Yuna has to call aeons. Start with… Valefor.
-And we gotta fight Valefor now. The orb possessed her.
-Valefor down. I think we have to go through all of them probably. Ifrit next.
-For a game so focused on summoners and aeons, I like that we get this. They’re more than mere tools, mere spells.
-We all have auto-life? How? Why? A parting gift from Jecht? [Later edit and non-rhetorical question for y'all: I still don’t quite understand this mechanic. I thought at first it would go away after the first death and act as a buffer zone, a safety net so that you could heal back up at the start of the fight safely, but it never seemed to go away. What gives with this mechanic?]
-Each of these aeons goes down quickly so far to a single Holy. Ixion, Yuna.
-Just started checking the possessed aeon’s name at Bahamut. “Soon… eternal rest.” That was the NAME. Yu Yevon is talking to me through their name.
-A nice touch: the sad/regretful face of Yuna as she sees each aeon go down.
-last one: Yojimbo.

-All the aeons are down. What now?
-The orb floats in front of us. Starts to grow a few little crabby legs.
-Tidus tells the others pre-fight that he’s about to die
-I KNEW IT - the symbol is Yu Yevon.
-It keeps casting Curaga on itself. I stopped the pagodas, and am doing more damage than it can heal, but… hm. If I don’t kill it soon, I’ll try casting Reflect on it to give me the Curagas. Use that FFIV Asura strat.
-Got it. It’s changing form.
-The side pagoda collapse onto it. It’s merging into a new thing. Next form/phase coming.
-Wait, is that not just an early form, but the final form? No next phase?
---
Aftermath
-CLASKO AND THE CHOCOBO KNIGHTS!!
-All the Crusaders see this and are saluting.
-Besaid temple. Maechen.
-We start going around to see the blackening forms of the various fayths. Dissipating. Going away.
-This is bittersweet. Mostly sweet, but still.
-Yuna’s giving her final Sending.
-OH SHIT I FORGOT SHE DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT AURON
-Auron walks amongst the group saying goodbye.
-THISIS BEAUTIFUL!!! She’s sending all the aeons. Cinematic. Sin explodes violently.
-Yuna’s still dancing.
-They look like constellations up there.
-The wall of fayth blackens. The dream over.

-A watery orb containing the dream.
-Yuna doesn’t want Tidus to go.
-NOOO!!! She tries to go in for a final hug but goes through him. He’s already gone, and I don’t think he’ll have any Zidane-style return.
-lol rikku energetically jumping and waving goodbye
-Tidus does a divebomb to dream dad. High fives him. He won’t be alone.
Whether that’s a good thing is open to discussion.
---
Recovery
-Yuna whistling at a dock. For what?
... OH GOD I JUST REMEMBERED, THE WHISTLE, SHUT UP IM NOT CRYING
-Are they in a blitzball stadium now? Looks like it. Luca maybe.
-Yuna is quite a good speaker.
YUNA: “Together, we will rebuild Spira. The road is ahead of us, so let’s start out today.”
-Tidus, I love you, but this is HER story.
-Fast cinematic montage of her memories. Never forget.
-Credits roll.
-Powerful ending. Whew. I need a minute. I’m glad that Tidus didn’t become real. Much better, stronger, this way. Real sacrifice, real loss.
-Ooh, John Dimaggio also did Kimahri? Awesome.
-Post credits thing! Pyreflies. Tidus curled up in a ball, floating in the void.
-Or in water? Huh. He swims up to the camera.
-That’s Final Fantasy X.
-The end.

Next time: Final thoughts, and then after the Thanksgiving break, Final Fantasy X – Eternal Calm!
