Mobliz
-After we walk out of the house, one of the boys warns Terra that Humbaba’s attacking. Ruh-roh.
-She takes him on alone.
-This guy hits really hard and seems immune to magic, even with Terra in esper form. Scripted loss.
-Celes and Sabin then take over. Tough fight, but we win and he flees.
-Terra wakes in bed.
Yeah, she’s still staying here. For now.
-Ooh, Humbaba dropped a magicite shard as he fled: Fenrir. +30% MP on level-up. Celes says thanks!

Overworld
-Let’s head west.
-Sabin got a new Blitz, an aoe wind elemental attack called “Razor Gale.” It’s awesome.
-Found a chocobo stable. Yay!
Good attitude, Mr. Chocobo Stableman.
I don’t take the chocobo all the way to Nikeah, since I want to walk and explore the new parts, but good to know about.
-A tower lies hemmed in by mountains.
Based on what I heard about its location, I think this is where Kefka’s cult lives. No caves that might let me get into that ring, so I have to assume we’ll get an airship at some point.

Nikeah
-An ex-Returner notices us and says hello. He woke up in Doma Castle, and monsters came for him… IN HIS DREAMS WTF??? Is Freddy Krueger an esper?
-It’s really strange to see him identify as an ex-Returner. I was so focused in the first half of this game on the Empire versus the Returners, tyranny versus freedom, will Banon take power and become corrupt (WORST PREDICTION EVER Y/Y?), what are the power struggles in the Empire between Leo and Kefka, etc.
And now all that stuff is dust in the wind. Kefka comes along like this force of nature and wipes away all those political quarrels. They feel so small and meaningless now.
-Thieves in the pub escaped from Figaro. I doubt Lone Wolf is among them. For his sake, he better not be.
-They tell me of a secret entrance to Figaro Castle. The castle got stuck underground when the cataclysm hit next to a sandworm cave and they escaped through there.
-The gang is the “Crimson Robbers,” led by Gerad.
-We meet Gerad behind the inn.
”Gerad.”
-OF COURSE. It’s Edgar. Hi, Edgar! But he doesn’t know us? He walks away from us and assures us he’s Gerad. Amnesia probably.
-But he kept a lot of personality traits of his former self, as Celes points out: “I’ve never met anyone else who’d flirt with a lady he was trying to shake off his trail.” LOL
-“Gerad” leads the Crimson Robbers on board a ship bound for South Figaro. We stow away.

South Figaro
-We watch the ship sail to South Figaro, and (miraculously in the FF universe) do not get attacked by Leviathan yet again. Keep the streak alive!
-I have a feeling the streak will end soon. A sailor in South Figaro says he saw a huge shadow pass beneath the water. Yeah, Leviathan’s definitely looming. Unless it’s Ultros, but I doubt Ultros spends much time in the ocean. He’s too busy in freshwater, or at the opera, or flying in midair.
-Tried going back to the basement below the rich man’s house, but it has the same old monsters that used to be there. This tells me there’s nothing new here. I leave.
-The daughter in the rich man’s house is a whole other story. Her song about winding the clock has changed to “Jump on the turtle! Jump on the turtle!” Must be referring to that turtle in the South Figaro Cave.
-Duncan’s wife says that Duncan is alive, and training north of Narshe. Um. No? I guess we never saw him die, but both Sabin and Vargas seemed pretty sure.
-I like the optimistic spirit that pervades this town. People are rebuilding, and will be damned if they let Kefka stop them.
Bravo.
-I want a t-shirt that says “Keep Calm and Avoid the Light of Judgment.” Most people would probably think I was a fire-and-brimstone evangelist, but I’d immediately marry whoever got it. Best matchmaking tool ever y/y?
-Thief: “A young guy just came through town searching for a legendary treasure with the power to bring back the dead.” LOCKE!
-Barkeep: “That little girl stopped coming here. Haven’t seen her since that fateful day…” Who? Couldn’t be Relm. Before “that fateful day” she was in Thamasa, and after “that fateful day” the girl in question never came in here. Hm.
-The gang leaves town. Let’s follow them.

Next time: Pursuing “Gerad” and the Crimson Robbers.
