FFIV After Years – Part 2: A Noble Spirit Em-Biggs-ens the Smallest Man

In this segment, Ceodore successfully completed his trial. We swapped then to Baron, to Cecil and Rosa fending off a monster attack unsuccessfully, which seems to have been led by Fake!Rydia, or some similar green-haired lady (passion lady) tied to the events of Interlude somehow.

The airship carrying Ceodore, Biggs, and Wedge back to Baron gets downed, in a surprisingly emotional moment with Biggs’ sacrifice. Babil is back and flipping out.

Oh, and the GHL (“Green-haired lady”) somehow turned LEVIATHAN AND ASURA TO FREAKING STONE HOW ARE YOU SO POWERFUL GHL.

Thoughts/notes from this part:

Airship

-What’s up with Biggs? He really can’t take a “thank you.”

-Wedge, I like you, but chill the fuck out about Rosa and Cecil. Ceodore kind of doesn’t like the implications that he can’t decide his own future.

-THAT’S A LOT OF FLOATY EYES ATTACKING

Castle Baron

-Cecil. Dude. Don’t leave Rosa behind. She’s a white mage, not a piece of glass!

-CECIL: “The castle gate is secure, and yet monsters are within the keep.”

…Cecil. Have you noticed the monsters are all fliers? They aren’t going to use the door. You’re outside.

-CECIL: “So that’s why! The monsters are coming from the sky.” …yes.

-TWO MOONS!

-Montage!

-lololol @Cid’s new portrait. So much beard.

-New Moon: Black magic (unsure), white magic down, physical attacks unaffected.

-Fake!Rydia summons freaking BAHAMUT????

Hahahahaha

Hahahahaha

Hahahaha

Sorry, laughing at Bahamut’s combat sprite imposed on Castle Baron.

Feymarch and Around

-How is fake!Rydia so powerful?

-Edge! Hi!

-She turned Asura and Leviathan to stone!!

-Babil’s back. And the tower looks PISSED.

-Luka’s sprite looks awesome.

Airship

-NOOO It crashed!

-And Biggs sacrificed himself for Ceodore…

-OMG

-WTF

-He (and Wedge) both helped kick off FFIV. They were on Cecil’s mission to Mysidia. They were the ones who spoke out on the airship against Baron’s actions, and for all I know pushed Cecil’s conscience towards rebellion. Their open doubt set the tone.

-I like the flashback’s sepia tone.

After Years hasn’t even been going for very long at all, and yet for some reason this got me in the feels. I don’t know why. I just found myself progressing through all these assumptions about Biggs’ character that got turned. His Snape-ness played through to the end.

RIP Biggs.
