We start off today in the Cave of Eblana, from Edge’s perspective as a solo party. As he progressed through, it was creepy to see the old Eblanan hideout abandoned.
After he finished the cave, he reached the Tower of Babil, and our perspective shifted back…
…to the main party. Palom and Porom, Rydia, and Cecil as they enter the Tower of Babil to see what’s what.
----
Tower of Babil
-A boss-style “FrostBeast” attacked us, and afterwards Rydia learned
“Shiva.” Ok, wtf. Why did she forget? Why is she getting Eidolon
summons through killing random (if elementally appropriate) mobs instead
of earning their trust again directly? Confused as fuck.
-And the boss-style mob of the next floor continues this. “Green
Dragon,” who grants Ramuh. Are these monsters that reactivated Babil
stealing the souls of Eidolons?
-The “Tunneler” mob was tough as hell. I don’t have Float, and it chain casts Earthquake.
-Why does Osmose seem to suck in FFIV? It was very useful in FFII, but
it almost always seems to drain only one MP, even from caster mobs.
-Is it possible to reverse “Stop” in combat?
-NO RYDIA, COME BACK!! Why are you running into the control room of the Tower and locking us out?
-This boss legit made me laugh. Starts off as three giant robots,
“Android Soldiers,” but after I killed them, they Voltroned together to
become “Deus Ex Machina.”
-Hi, Edge!!
-So we pushed further into the tower and found Rydia where Dr. Lugae had
been. Edge saw through her disguise, and we enter into combat against
her. Hilariously, her name in combat is “Rydia?” with the question
mark.
-Oh, and “Rydia?” is hard as fuck. She summoned each of the Eidolons
she learned through the tower, and after killing them, she summons
freaking Bahamut. Similar to Golbez in the Magnetic Cave, Rydia – the
real Rydia - again saves our asses by swooping in with her Mist Dragon.
It seems like Bahamut was brainwashed by fake Rydia. The resulting
fight, with real Rydia on our team, was hard, but we won. Huzzah!
-But fake Rydia disappears… and then reappers on the moon in the Lunar Palace’s Crystal Room… and says:
???: Eidolon… System… completed…
And then she disappears after walking into an empty crystal chamber.
WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK
------
End of the Interlude
Everyone gets back together in Baron, and Cecil checks on Rosa. I worry
that she’s been body-snatched or doubled the way Rydia was, but that
was a red herring. She’s pregnant. Will “The After Years” follow the
adventures of a little Cecil or little Rosa?
And we finish off wish Kain in the mountains. Looking over a cliff. Being called by a mysterious voice.
THE END.
NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL A SET-UP
I do hope that Kain doesn’t have any more mind-fuckery happen to him in
the After Years. Poor guy had enough of that in the base game.
