Summary: Let’s a-go! We begin briefly three years ago with a mission for Yuffie and Vincent, and then flash to the present where a hostile force (Shinra maybe?) attacks Kalm. Vincent tries to save some folks while on his way to see Reeve(!!).
Prologue – Meteorfall
-Hi yuffie!
-Hey game, how about not zooming up on her ass like that? Thanks.
-Yuffie and Vincent working together against “the mako cannon.” Guess this won’t be about Turk!Vincent.
-“Yuffie, rendezvous with Cloud and the others.” !!!
-Vincent charges up the mako cannon to “finish.” Not sure whether this is during FFVII or after.
-Vincent was about to shoot someone on the cannon, but a bolt of lightning hit the thing and blew it apart. Coincidence?
-Yuffie to the rescue on her flying motorbike!

-Vincent in a crystal cave. End of FFVII maybe?
-Woman in crystal.
Vincent: “We meet again Lucrecia.” ??????? Probably something I'd know if I got Vincent in FFVII.
-She’s apologizing, but Vincent wants to do the apologizing.
-HAHAHA YES MESSAGE FROM REEVE - kitty might be in this game.
-News report on TV says a sealed door is about to be opened. Something about human experiments.
-Change of location. A festival! Everyone’s happy. Vincent is pulling an Angel and brooding.
-oh shit, planes blew up the city walls. Is this Kalm?
-SOLDIERS JUST FUCKING OPENED FIRE ON THHE TOWNSPEOPLE. This is from the intro. Monster soldiers are eating people. Wtf wtf wtf
-Vincent leaps into action!
-The soldiers are kidnapping random folks. Shinra?

-Now I can play.
-A woman is looking at Vincent through the soldiers’ cameras in a giant control room.
“Found you.”
-Thankfully, I get tutorials even now (like, a message about how to use potions). Repetitio mater memoriae, so the extra reminders are welcome.
-R2 reloads. Will it automatically reload when I run out, or do I have to do it myself I wonder?
-I survived the first area! I’m the champion of the woooorld! (seriously, I remembered more than I thought I would about the controls.) I only tried using his purple hand melee attack a couple of times. Hoping bullets won’t be an issue.
-“Stage mission: protect the civilians!” I hope it’s not an escort quest.
-That sort of answers that question, about “what’s Cerberus.”
Not a three-headed dog, but rather a three-barreled gun.
-A helicopter lifts off, carrying the kidnapped civilians.
-Hey, I found some hiding civilians.
-Interesting mechanic choice. I kept running over a potion pack, but it just bounced in the air. I ran over it like 10 times, thinking it was some multi-potion pack, but it turned out I wasn’t getting any. I capped out at 4! In all prior FF games, you could stock up to 99.
I really like this choice. It’s a similar thing to what Diablo 3 did compared to Diablo 2. They balanced potions so that when you needed them, the environment gave them to you rather than just stocking up.
Saving some random folks from soldiers in the distance.
-Just picked up a Limit Breaker item, which would activate “Galian Beast.” Looks like a melee form.
-Wow. That was brutal. Just saw a mom and her kid get eaten by those soldier dogs.
-lol nm, I only thought the kid (“Rio”) was eaten.
-I like the mission split in this game. I’ll come across an area and get a subquest. “Save the kid!” “Get the cardkey!” Feels very organic so far.
-hahahahaha – when Vincent turns to go, he LITERALLY SWOOPS HIS CAPE LIKE BELA LUGOSI AS DRACULA. So dramatic. XD
-The customization tool is really interesting here.
-Got the cardkey and coming to the final area.
-Already starting to get some tactics going. Like, came across three soldiers on some stairs. Ran out of sight and waited for them to come into my line of vision one by one to shoot.
-Still NO IDEA what’s up with the split screen.
-Aaaand a boss fight. Against a helicopter. “Dragonfly.” HOW IS THAT REMOTELY FAIR?
-Good. It’s sending an army at me.
