Summary:
A bit of a world tour in the airship, to meet interesting people and
grab useful loot. First stop is Castle Tycoon, a trip down memory lane
for both Faris (nee Sarisa) and Lenna. Next is the Pirates’ Hideout,
where we see that kwehin’ bird Boko again.
Castle Tycoon
-The Chancellor wants to speak with us.
-He (and everyone!) seem pleasantly surprised to have their princess, Lenna, back.
The FF eye-pop-of-surprise never fails to amuse me.
-He wants her to stay and govern, but she chooses instead to stay with the Light Warriors. Talk about a young woman with options.
-They opt to stay the night.
---
Night in Castle Tycoon
-Faris and Lenna stay up late talking. Interesting! Faris was a kid here in the castle and remembers it.
-FLASHBACK TO LITTLE PIGTAILED KID FARIS MY BRAIN EXPLODED. She used to be Sarisa. Probably easier to keep a low profile as a pirate if your name isn’t the same as a lost princess.
-In the flashback, she goes into baby Lenna’s bedroom, and tucks her in.
Can I get an ‘AWWW’?
-She fell asleep in bed next to Lenna. Double aw.
---
Day in Castle Tycoon
-Faris’s old nurse is here, but (understandably) doesn’t recognize her.
-All kinds of goodies lying around the castle. Phoenix Downs, Hi-Potions, Elixirs, etc.
-Someone said Hiryu, the king’s wind drake, returned, but I don’t see him atop the castle right now. Must be out for a fly.
-The storehouse has even more goodies, including a Diamond Bell for Galuf.
-Well! That was a productive first stop.
---
Overworld
-Hm… where to fly to next…
-Let’s take another look for Boko. I don’t think I explored the starting area fully enough.
---
Cave near Castle Tycoon
-Boko’s footprints are outside the cave! He went in after us!
-Are (arrrr) the pirates deeper inside the cave actually caring for Boko?
---
Pirates’ Hideout
-Gifts! A pirate gave us 8 pots just because Faris is awesome. Which she totally is.
-WOOHOO!! HI, BOKO!!!
Right back atcha!
They are caring for Boko. Pirate: “We put that kwehin’ bird to bed, an’ be attendin’ to its wounds.” LOLOLOL THAT KWEHIN’ BIRD
-Boko’s still a bit hurt from his time trek through the cave, so he’ll stay behind to recover. Get well, bud.
-……………
-………………………
-………………………………..
-A pirate tries to confess his love for Faris, but can’t quite get out the words.
Will Random Pirate #7 ever fully express his love? Will Faris reciprocate? Next time, on “Days of Arrrrr Lives”!
-Another productive side-trip! Heading back out of the cave.
-This is the first game where I don’t resent being attacked by lowbie mobs. Back in, say, FFIV, if I got into a fight with imps, I’d get negligible xp. Here, even the low level mobs at least grant me one ABP, which is non-trivial experience towards job leveling. Well-played, FFV.
-Brief aside: I love, love, love how cheesily wonderful this game's pirates are. The best.
---
Overworld
-I tried going into the temple on the island in the middle of the sea, but nowhere to land.
-Tried checking out Istory Falls, but it too has nowhere to land. Blocked off with mountains and forest.
-Next try is to see that town in the northeast of the map. Success! It’s open to me now. It’s mostly encircled by mountains and forests, but there’s one clear square to land in.
---
Next time: the town of Lix.
